Memories of the Invincibles
I was just checking through my photos of the undefeated season, ah... the memories! I'd taken photos at numerous home games from the front row of the Clock End and was shocked to realise I didn't have one photo in which all the players would still be wearing the illustrious red and white at Emirates Stadium this season.
I then got to thinking about what each of these players had given during their time at Arsenal.
Kanu: height, a great smile and that goal from the corner flag.
Edu: a calm head with seemingly unlimited time on the ball.
Campbell: strength and courage.
Parlour: hard graft and sweat.
Vieira: leadership and passion.
Pires: goals, assists and an integral part of a great left side.
Bergkamp: intelligence, class and a velvet touch.
And probably #3 and #9.
We have seen so many good players leave since then and it is a testament to Wenger that in most cases he has a hungry young player waiting in the wings.
The future does look bright but without wishing to sound cliched those were great times.
